……….The writings are on the wall……..and, the jury is out from the public opinion courts……that Nairobi and Kiambu Counties aren’t going according to the script that’s expected from their electorates. The verdict is that Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, and, his Kiambu counterpart, Ferdinard Waititu have failed their electorates.

And, if the on-goings that are happening in their respective Counties are anything to go by, then we are in a rude shock. These two Counties are shrinking to oblivion and into an abyss despite them being the wealthiest Counties. The news that is emanating from these two counties is shocking.

These two counties are been portrayed in abad light due to poor leadership by their respective Governors. The pictures that are been painted is that of total chaos, mismanagement, inefficiency, disorganisation, and one man showmanship that’s characterizing their style of leadership and their working environment in their counties.

And, it seems as if these two Governors don’t have any strategy, masterplan, or, strategic plan to drive and develop their respective counties. They are clueless and they seem to have a bankrupt of ideas.

Chaotic scenes, political dramas accompanied by their theatiricals antics manifests their style of leadership. In Nairobi County things have turned from bad to worse…..we are seeing garbage everywhere without been collected, roads are pathetic and all these blames are directed at the Governor. And, it is the same case in Kiambu County…..impassable roads, poor service delivery and poor healthcare

These two Governors have become the laughing stock of their electorate over their useless ideas. But, in a quick rejoinder, they have asked their electorates to bear with them and give them time to clean up the mess they apparently inherited from their former respective County governments.

One political pundit while commenting on the status of Nairobi County, argued that Governor Sonko, has nobody to advise him after Polycarp Igathe, his former deputy, left him. He was badly exposed to his own shortcomings. He further pointed out that Mike Sonko has failed Nairobians because he has nobody to advise him on how to run the Nairobi County affairs.

He concludes that, if former Deputy Governor, Mr Igathe, was still in office, the city would be good since he was a technocrat and a good manager.

But, in a matter of introspective, was voting in of these two Governors a political mistake the electorates made? Did the electorates make the wrong choices? And, in a matter of fact do these two Governors have any strategy, masterplan, or, strategic plan to drive and develop their respective Counties?

The comments by the citizenry in the social media to express their dissatisfaction with these two governments’ performance tells it all.

In particular, Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, has been at the receiving end of brats and barbs that are fired at him by angry residents due to his shortcomings and mismanagement in running down the Nairobi County.

Nairobi County, being the capital centre, Kenyans expect it’s Governor to be vibrant to the fact he is capable and able to run the County smoothly. He/she must be a good leader who is alive and able to steer the County to greater heights of prosperity in terms of development while putting into consideration it’s numerous challenges it faces.

But, the Governor, isn’t alive and up to the task of developing and transforming Nairobi County. Political pundits are arguing that he is running the County down the drain due to his poor leadership, disorganisation and mismanagement style.

The recent story which ran in one of thelocal dailies exposed him in a bad light and dented his leadership style. It portrayed a Governor who is short of ideas and isn’t in touch with ideals of transforming Nairobi County. He has no clue on how to run the Nairobi County.

And, it is in these state of affairs that a proposal has been fronted to have Nairobi County dissolved and made a Metropolis with the necessary legislation. According to the constitution, the President has the powers to dissolve Nairobi County and then appoint a board to run its affairs.

The recent attack directed at the former Nairobi Central Business Association, chairman, Charles Muriuki, by goons associated with the Governor tells it all and opens up a lid on the kind of leadership the Nairobians should expect.

And, it is the same case that’s replicating itself in Kiambu County where disorderly, disorganization, mismanagement and chaotic scenes are the orders of the days. Governor Waititu is accused of being therule unto himself. He makes decisions unilaterally and arbitrarily without consulting his County cabinet secretaries.

He also faces accusations of firing his County Cabinet secretaries anyhow and at will. The United Kiambu which helped him secure the Governorship is long gone save for the deputy Governor whom they aren’t on talking terms.
