…….Talk about …..things falling apart in the Jubilee party…..The writings are on the wall ……that the Jubilee party is in its’ deathbed…..and, it is staring at an imminent collapse, for the center of its’ power can’t hold together anymore. The party is slowly drifting into an abyss.

The political honeymoon and comrade that was once exhibited by President Uhuru, and, his Deputy, William Ruto, eclipsed along time ago. They parted ways after the 2017 general elections. They are pulling into different political directions…..and, it is a matter of fact before they call it quits.

The political expediency they brought to the fore changed mid-way…..as political friends turned out to be political foes, and, vice versa.

The once-formidable political team which was described by former President Kibaki, as the “dynamic duo”, are facing rough, tough and turbulence times ahead where sentiments of betrayal, backstabbing, and, undermining are the orders of the days……And, a political divorce seems likely to be the next course of action.

The once vibrant and formidable political party which illuminated light foretelling brighter days ahead is closing on its’ dying days…..the implosion times…..and, it will certainly succumb like a mad house in a storm season.

And, just like the sack that holds together potatoes and the moment that sack tears…..the potatoes scatter to the ground in different directions …..that’s where the Jubilee party is heading.

The Jubilee party didn’t metamorphosis to its’ full course as its owners had anticipated…..just like the African National Congress { A.N.C} of South Africa….instead it created a wedge within its rank and file with two different factions emerging out of those political divisions. One faction is allied to President Uhuru nicknamed “Kieleweke”, while “tanga tanga” is affiliated to Deputy President, William Ruto.

And, it is rumored that Deputy President, William Ruto’s aggressive nature, especially in trying to outshine President Uhuru by purporting to do development in Central Kenya, earned him the enemy tag with the President.

Kimilili, Member of Parliament, Didmus Barasa, blames the on-going wrangles within Jubilee on the handshake between President Uhuru, and, Raila Odinga.

And, the climax of this political wrangles and shenanigans within Jubilee party culminated with the political beheadings of its top lieutenants in the Senate who are allied to Deputy President, William Ruto, which tells a lot that all is not well within the party.

According to Saturday Nation’s editorial piece, written on 23rd, May, it was written that…..the decision to remove Senate Deputy Speaker, Prof. Kindiki Kithure, was more of a political contest than a legislative agenda. It was the manifestation of Jubilee party rivalry rather than the practice of parliamentary democracy.

Two weeks ago, the Senate voted to defrock, Kipchumba Murkomen, and, Susan Kihika, as majority leader, and, majority chief whip, respectively. Their greatest fault, like Prof. Kindiki’s, is to align to the Jubilee wing that coalesces around Deputy President, William Ruto, who, for all intents and purpose has fallen out with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The editorial piece further outlined that unless this practice is checked, this country is sliding fast into dictatorship. Party leaders, who are individuals with a single vote, are the determinants of what happens in Parliament and define national politics. This is dangerous and anachronistic to the practice of democracy and independence of Parliament.

The political simmering and discontentment within the rumbling Jubilee party ….coupled by the President’s purge has created a wide division in the ruling coalition. And, it might scale full length with all indicators pointing to the National Assembly where a similar fate awaits the top lieutenants.

The political daggers that are being drawn tell of a dirty politicking plot game in play under the Jubilee’s carpet…….if the President’s purge on the perceived rebels in the Jubilee party by defrocking leaders who are believed to be loyal to Deputy President is anything to go by.

But, in a matter of introspective, right now when people yearn for only a rare show of united leadership in the face of a deadly health crisis, the country’s political system is shaken, sucking for itself for a share of attention, at the expense of more urgent matters.

……Politics amid a pandemic …..are we sane. It’s puzzling that we can be in a very active and perspiring political mood at such a time. Amid a worsening locust invasion, deadly floods which have killed and displaced many people, biting hunger and poverty, and, the Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic, how could we have time for anything else?

And, the people perpetrating these unhealthy political temperatures are representatives of Kenyans….But, where is the sanity? It’s time we wake up and stayed awake.
