…….Talk about the deadly political games politicians play…..On Sunday 4th, October, Deputy-President, William Ruto, was expected to preside over a fundraiser in aid of a Church in Kenol town, Murang’ a County.

Early in the morning political mayhem and skirmishes had rocked the Kenol town, after it was alleged that some youths had been ferried in that town to cause chaos and stop Deputy-President, William Ruto, from presiding and attending that fundraiser.

And, as it has become the known norm and practise by some politicians where they hire youths to cause violence at their rivals political gatherings and this one wasn’t an exception. The jury is out in the public opinion courts on who hired the youths to cause skirmishes in Kenol town.

The aftermath of that instigated political acts of violence left two junior youths dead, while others were nursing serious injuries. And, what becomes the politics of the day……the ensuing blame game where politicians from different political factions blame each other for the chaos.

But, the political mayhem witnessed in Kenol town, during a visit by Deputy-President, William Ruto, is a precursor of worse things in the political circles. The country is increasingly getting polarised as politicians up the ante yet elections are still two years away. If this isn’t controlled, the country is headed for a disaster worse than the 2007/8 madness.

We must deal firmly with political goons and, unfortunately, some politicians are hell-bent on taking this country back to those days of one-party dictatorship by hiring goons to disrupt functions organised by their rivals.

And, the youths must desist to be used by the political class and the ruling elites for their selfish political endeavours. It’s high time youths realized that they have a much bigger role to play in our country other than being used by politicians to cause chaos.

What happened in Kenol town, must be condemned by all Kenyans. There’s sufficient evidence to prove that the goons were hired by politicians to cause chaos.

But, matters have been exacerbated by the security agencies, who display overt partisanship in pursuit of suspected perpetrators of the heinous act. A directive by Inspector-General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, for the arrest of Murang’ a Members of Parliament, allied to Deputy- President, William Ruto, sends wrong signals that the government is hell-bent on taming Deputy- President and his supporters.

We hope the relevant investigative agencies will arrest the financiers, inciters and propagators of the deadly violence and prosecute them, irrespective of their political affiliations. That’s when such ugly political acts of violence will stop once and for all.

But, implosion and frictions in the Jubilee party are boiling over with disastrous effects in our politics. Whatever is happening in Jubilee party is now spilling over and becoming a national crisis in our politics. The conflicts in the ruling Jubilee party should be stopped before it gets out of hand.

And, what started as a rivalry between Tangatanga and Kieleweke factions within the Jubilee party has morphed into a deadly political duel. Top party officials, Secretary-General, Raphael Tuju, and, Vice-chairman, David Murathe, have been accused of stoking the fire.

Divisions and political differences between President Uhuru Kenyatta, and, his Deputy, Dr.Ruto, has reached an irreconcilable level and the unfolding politics of vengeance is domiciled within the party.

According to Deputy-President, William Ruto, while reacting to the ugly Kenol town incident alleged that …..an elaborate state-sponsored campaign meant to scuttle his 2022 State House bid through the chaos and painting him as an unwanted man in some parts of the country.

He said that Murang’ a case in which 2 youths were killed, wasn’t an isolated one, but, part of a broader plan to lock him out of some areas. But, he parts that they will not accept to be taken back to the politics of balkanising the country along with tribal enclaves.

In conclusion, political differences shouldn’t lead to political violence and senseless loss of lives. Ethnic mobilisation, incitement, and, retribution must end. Never again should the country be pushed to the precipice by power-hungry politicians.
