………..The real Kenyan politicking at its’ homestretch…………it is being written that ……..As President Uhuru focuses on the fight against corruption and building bridges initiative agreed with Raila Odinga, Deputy president, William Ruto has invested his energy and resources in building a massive following in Mt. Kenya region, where several Members of Parliament and constituents sing his praises………….

……….The real Kenyan politicking at its’ homestretch……If you happen to land from utopia, you will be flabbergasted by our real mode of politicking. You could be forgiven for interpreting that we are in an electioneering period. Thanks to our permanent mode of politicking which rotates full circle and all times.

In Kenya, politicking and politics is a matter of life and death. And, that’s why our political leaders and politicians are always on a permanent politicking mode so that they can keep up with the political pace and remain politically relevant.

This politicking precipitates political brouhahas, goofs, chest-thumping, and a clash of opinions according to the political dictates of the moment which at times overrides any other relevant issue that the country might undertake.

Right now, the political discourse which is dictating and shaping up our politics is the ……..”succession politics”….and, to the larger extent the pros and cons of the famous “handshake” between President Kenyatta and opposition leader, Raila Odinga, which has caused political ripples across the political divide.

And, in all this political discourses Deputy President, William Ruto, is emerging as the common denominator.

Also, the political arguments have it that President Kenyatta is slowly losing the political ground and support to Deputy President, William Ruto, who has focused on building loyalty and followers in the region which is also spicing up the political discussions.

Political arguments which are making rounds has it that as President Kenyatta builds bridges, his second in command is winning support in his backyard. Amid what political pundits interpret as a response to the growing rebellion of some Central Kenya leaders who have transferred their allegiance from the President to Deputy President, William Ruto.

And, two political groupings have emerged in the region…..one backing Deputy President William Ruto’s bid for Presidency come 2022……..another is solidly behind President Kenyatta and awaiting political direction from him on the way forward.

Despite numerous calls to Kenyan politicians to put aside 2022 politics and concentrate on development have been futile. The battle for President Uhuru’s succession is on and the battle lines have been drawn which have made the ruling Jubilee party to face a crisis to a point of near implosion.

On the defensive is “Team Tanga tanga”, led by Deputy President, William Ruto. This is the group in the ruling Jubilee party that all along assumed that he would be the party’s automatic flagbearer and President Kenyata’s successor based on a 2013 gentleman’s agreement.

Taking the battle to “Team Tanga tanga” squad is “Team Kieleweke”. This is a formation compromising jubilee members opposed to the Deputy President.

But, it has been pinpointed that the political ground started shifting when President Uhuru ignored his political backyard and embarked on building bridges with Raila Odinga with the famous “handshake”.

……And, what we are now witnessing is leaders from Mt. Kenya region, which is the political bedrock of Mr. Kenyatta, accuse him of neglecting the region, while they accuse Mr. Odinga, of hatching a plot to divide the ruling party.

That’s why it is being written that ……..As President Uhuru focuses on the fight against corruption and building bridges initiative agreed with Raila Odinga, Deputy president, William Ruto has invested his energy and resources in building a massive following in Mt. Kenya region, where several Members of Parliament and constituents sing his praises.

According to political observers ……..Deputy president’s accessibility and numerous visits to the region have endeared him to local leaders and voters. The leaders decamped to the Ruto’s camp because the President doesn’t hold any meetings with them, he only scolds them leaving them with no alternative but to take their problems to the Deputy President.
