…………..But, in matters of introspective, why are these open relationships involving young women and older men ending tragically? And, why are crimes of passion on the increase? Why are our young women taking up the easier route which is complicated instead of following the normal route?………

………..It is as if we are in a death campaign where gruesome serial murders are occurring with each an every passing day…..it has become the order of the days. The country has in recent months witnessed a wave of killings that has left many citizens shocked and terribly worried.

Almost every other day, we are hearing of one gruesome murder after the another, carried out by hired hitmen, or, killers driven by motives only known to themselves. These incidents have left families, friends and associates of the victims devastated and crying out for justice.

And, the intricate thing about these serial murders is that it is revolving around “crimes of passion” which are on the rise especially in cases where young women who are in open relationships with wealthy older men in the name of “sponsors” are mostly ending tragically. And, following the increasing number of young women {mostly University students} dating wealthy older men in the name of “sponsors” just to get the lavish lifestyle they see their friends leading is just but worrying.

Currently, there are two stories involving crimes of passion which are making viral rounds in our country which has captured the subject of discussions.

One involves Sharon Otieno, a University student, who was found murdered together with her unborn child and her body was dumped in a forest. And, before she met her death she was in an open relationship with Migori Governor, Okoth Obado, who has since being charged in Court in connection with the murder.

The other story involves Monica Kimani, who was also found murdered in her apartment. Ms. Kimani was killed by having her throat slit in the bathtub of her apartment in Kilimani on the night of September 19. Celebrity news anchor, Jacque Maribe, her boyfriend, Joseph Irungu, who is the main suspect, and, a neighbor Mr. Brian Kassaine, have been arrested in connection with the killing.

These are just but a few crimes of passion cases which have gone haywire which has caught the public attention, many more go unreported. And, we can’t forget the past cases which have hit the headlines and especially one which hit the headline in 2011, where, Mercy Keino, a University student lifeless body was found on the roadside in Westland after she attended a house party which was hosted by a former Governor.

Then, there was Carol Ngumbo, who was found murdered together with her lover, the former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Director, Chris Msando, who were in an open relationship. And, talk about Carol being caught up at the wrong place and at the wrong time and the dictates of the time couldn’t spare her life for she killed together with her lover, the late Chris Msando.

All these gruesome serial murders which have happened recently which are under the spotlight and many others which goes unreported are all pointing to one thing…….Crimes of passion where young women who are in open relationships with wealthy older men in the name of “sponsors”.

And, it seems as if some of these open relationships are ending tragically on the part of these young women if the recent happenings are anything to go by.

But, in matters of introspective, why are these open relationships involving young women and older men ending tragically? And, why are crimes of passion on the increase? Why are our young women taking up the easier route which is complicated instead of following the normal route?

Methinks that this whole thing about “sponsors” and the rising cases of crimes of passion portrays a picture of a society which is decaying and have a deficiency in its’ morals. Our moral values seems to have been thrown out of the window because how can one explain the logic behind the killing of a heavily pregnant woman together with her unborn child.

Also, these young women fall to pressure and end up breaking peoples’ marriages. Parents need to impact good morals in their children. Take time to talk to them and stop delegating your role to the society and social media.
