…………. But, in a matter of introspective, this scary and erratic climatic weather conditions are real pointers that the effects of global warming are real. The erratic weather patterns are clear indicators that we are facing an imminent danger of the effects of global warming……

……..After the recent weather scare, where the long rains have failed and delayed which are minimal in scale……most Kenyans are anxious and worried and they are anticipating for the best. They are praying for the rains to continue pounding.

The weathermen have predicted tougher times ahead due to the delayed rains which will be minimal in scale.

The long rains have failed this time round and it will be a miracle if it rains more. Over the years, it has the tradition that the long rains season pounds at this time of the year. And, it is this long rains season that feeds the nation and its’ failure paints a picture of doom, catastrophic and uncertainty.

Most Kenyans, and, especially the farmers are staring at a bleak future if the long rains will be minimal. It’s failure to rain will precipitate a human crisis and a massive crop failure hence we will be staring at starvation.

And, as a nation we do have case to worry about for the reality of the matter is that rains have failed this time round. As has being the climatic weather condition tradition over the years, we expects the long rains from mid-March….through April…..to the start of May and this is where most farmers do plant their crops.

But, to their consternation, this year has turned otherwise…..the long rains have failed. And, it is worth noting that we had emerged out of a prolonged abnormal dry spell season which was characterized by abnormal hot and high temperatures which ravaged everything in its’ wake.

The aftermath of the dry spell left devastating effects on the nation…….as it occasioned drought and water scarcity.

But, in a matter of introspective, this scary and erratic climatic weather conditions are real pointers that the effects of global warming are real. The erratic weather patterns are clear indicators that we are facing an imminent danger of the effects of global warming.

And, this fact was confirmed recently here in Africa……when we experienced the first tropical cyclones which hit Mozambique and its neighbour countries twice this year. To the climate experts, the occurrence of these tropical cyclones is an indication of severe global warming.

According to our weathermen these tropical cyclones disrupted our weather patterns and affected our long rains……these tropical cyclones had ripple effects on our weather pattern.

A recent United Nation scientific report, revealed that humanity is squandering the natural capital that has allowed society to thrive driving a million species to the brink of extinction. Relentless blundering and poisoning of the Earth’s bounty ….wildlife, air, soil, and forest ……threatens societies at least as much as climate change.

The report further details how our growing footprint and appetites have compromised the natural renewal of resources that sustain civilization…..such as fresh water, breathable air and productive soil.

But, the global warming is pushing animals and plants out of their comfort zones and intensifies the kind of heatwaves and drought that have fueled unprecedented fires.

This is the reason we should be careful when it comes to the future that’s before us.
