ARE WE JINXED,OR,HOW CAN WE DESCRIBE THE TRAGIC TRAGEDIES THAT ARE BEFALLING IN OUR COUNTRY?OR,ARE WE LIVING LIFES CHARACTERISED BY SHEER IGNORANCE,NEGLIGENCE AND QUEER ARROGANT WAY OF LIFE?AND, WHY IS IT THAT THE GOVERNMENT DOESN’T IMPLEMENT THE LAID-DOWN LAWS AND RECOMMENDED POLICIES? BY;MUNGAI.

Are we jinxed,or,how can you describe the tragic tragedies which are befalling in our country.Or,is it that we do live lifes that are characterized by sheer ignorance, negligence and queer arrogant behavioural way of lives.Or,have we reached that desperate situation where we are averse to risk anything ,as poor people are chronically averse to risk an attitude that keeps them poor, but, alive? All irrespective of the subsequent consequences.

And ,why is it that the government doesn’t implement the laid-down laws and recommended policies ,and,if it takes it’s half-measures which at the end of it all backfires fatally?

It is perturbing to be systematically bombarded with the news of kenyans dying in road accidents ,after consuming chemical laced illicit brews and in fires.A day dawns with it’s own cast of tragedies of which some are as a result of man-made errors.Negligence of the laid-down laws which are not adhered to precipitates this tragedies.

And,what characterizes our moments when such a tragedy befalls and claim lifes ,that happens to be the opportune that we do vow that it shall never happen again and a commission is constituted  to come up with a solution to the problem. While the politicians takes the platform to further their political mileage.

Take a closer look at these tragic scenarios  which characterized one of our unfortunate, tragic and black week.At the dawn of Monday,12th September ,there was a petrol spill leakage at one of the Kenya Pipeline Corporation depot in Nairobi,Industrial area, which culminated into a river of petrol. The estimated quantity of it was 10,000 litres that flowed in Mukuru Sinai slums.

And,what characterizes such scenarios in Kenya, the slum residents got a wind of the leakage spill and in a flash of a second ,people were in their droves scooping the free rare commodity.Everybody  wanted to get a share of the fortune so as to make a kill.

But,unfortunately luck wasn’t on their side ,cause in a mix-up of thing ,the whole where the petrol spillage had reached plus the neighbourhood slum, the entire was engulfed with a deadly inferno which was consuming everything in it’s path. The leaking highly flammable petrol was a lurking time bomb which was itching closer to detonation. And,by the time firefighters managed to contain the deadly inferno  more than 100 people were dead, some burnt beyond recognition while many others were nursing serious burns. In it’s path the fire left behind a wave of destructions.

The following day which seemed like it wasn’t a let-up ,another tragedy hits the country,in Nyahururu, where more than 15 people died and others lost their eyesight after consuming chemical laced illicit brew nicknamed ,Yokozuna. And,as that wasn’t enough the following day another batch of more than 10 people succumbs to these illicit killer brew,in ,Ruiru,Juja.

And,what seemed as a sequence, again on Monday,19th September, another 3 people were reported dead due to this illicit brews. Then a petrol tanker overturns ,people goes to scoop petrol and in the process while others tries to steal the car battery, the tanker explodes in flames killing 6 people, while others nurses burns.

In all these happenings one scenario stood out,it was a pity, quite disheartening to note and a moment of sympathy to watch a young, productive lad losing his eyesights infront of the cameras. And ,it’s such times that one tends to wonder and ask of what has befallen our dear nation. It is a pity to note that these tragic tragedies claim so many productive youths of which could have being avoided in the first place and yet the government doesn’t do anything concrete curb, minimise these calamities by taking preventive measures .It’s only too slow to react.

All these are preventable and can easily be checked,While some argue that blame should be apportioned i believe the greatest share should be on the dysfunctional government departments.
